Grace

When I think about the word Grace, the story of the widow and her barrel of meal comes to mind.

I can only imagine what it must be like, to be so poor that all you have in the cabinets is a handful of meal. And when that is gone, there is nothing.

The Lord knew this lady’s situation and he used Elijah to provide for her and her young son. The widow explained that she only had enough to make one cake for herself and her son. Elijah told her that it was all going to work out, for her to go and prepare him something to eat. She did as she was told. She obeyed.

The Bible says, that the widow and her house ate for many days from that barrel.

Imagine one minute that barrel is almost empty and another minute there is meal still being scooped out. I wonder what went through the widow’s mind every time, she went to the barrel. Was she reminded of how God shed His grace on her?

Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name.

I think about all the times, that God has either supplied a need for me or protected me. I also think if it weren’t for His grace, I could be lost and on my way to hell.

As Christians, we are the recipients of God’s grace!
