Quiet Moments {Thankful Thursdays}

Quiet moments, we all enjoy them. They are the moments we all need from time to time. As an introvert, I get a lot of rest during my quiet moments; those little 5 minutes here and there makes a world of difference for me. Lately, I’ve been sharing about spending time in God’s Word and why it’s important. Today, I want to share a little of what I’ve learned just this week in my quiet moments with God.

QUIET MOMENTS

I never want you to think I have a perfect life because I don’t. I try to share real life in words and pictures here. If you walked into my kitchen at the moment of writing this, you will find dishes stacked up in the strainer waiting to dry and be put away. My kitchen table is stacked full of school books that were shuffled around so we could have supper. My floor hasn’t been swept, and the laundry basket is waiting in the doorway to be folded and put away, so you see, I’m real just like you.

It's hard to keep our faith in the Lord -  I have a tendency to let my faith slip from time to time.

Just this week, I questioned the Lord about hearing my prayers and why should I even try. It seems like one particular prayer the Lord avoids answering for me; I had a rough day with this recently. Sadly, my son heard me talking and questioning the Lord. He heard things, I’m embarrassed about. After 16 years of teaching him to keep his faith in the Lord, serve him, obey him, to just live for him and then he hears me in a weak moment. What a sad day that was for me.

The next morning, I got up and quietly prayed and read my Bible. I was reading and I came across these words, He is the Rock, his work is perfect. (Deuteronomy 32:4) In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me. (Psalm 120:1), The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord had done great things for us; whereof we are glad. (Psalm 126:2-3) Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. (Psalm 128:1)

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him. (Psalm 37:7)

All it took was a quiet moment with God to REASSURE me that he hears and that he will answer my prayer – eventually.

God Hears and Will Answer Our Prayers

He also reminded me of a time not too long ago of how he answered a prayer when many thought it was a hopeless cause. That morning, I had to ask my son for forgiveness in him hearing my open conversation with the Lord. I want him to put his faith in the Lord; I don’t want him to be a weak faithed Christian.

Quiet moments with the Lord bring comfort and reminders of how He cares, hears and provides. I’m thankful for those moments.
