16 Birthdays {Thankful Thursdays}

I’ll never forget the faint positive sign on the test. It was the day I had dreamed about for so long, the day I found out I was going to be a mom. My husband and I shared tears of joy together; we were thrilled. The months of preparing and anticipation had me so excited; I couldn’t wait to bring my precious son home to his very first room that was decorated in blue, cream, and yellow. Today, I’m thankful for my sweet son, the blessing God entrusted me with. It's hard to believe he has already had 16 birthdays.

16 Birthdays

This week we celebrated my son’s 16th birthday. It’s hard to believe 16 years have gone by since bringing my tiny little bundle home. In a few days, he has an appointment to take his driver’s test; I still can’t believe he will be driving. While I don’t miss the sleepless nights, I sometimes wish I could go back and do some things a little differently. Things like cloth diapering and making his food instead of buying store bought; things that really don’t matter.

My son is not your normal teen guy. He is an introvert but will talk your ears off once he “learns” you. He’d rather be at home than out and about running around. He’s a PC gamer who loves riding bulls and hunting, yet he can be caring and tender when needed. Being the child of parents who grew up in the 80’s, he loves 80’s music.

I can’t believe all the times I wanted him to learn to play the violin when he was young and he had no interest. Then one day this year, he pipes up with I want to learn to play after listening to Lindsey Stirling. Since we are in an area where we are limited on teachers, he is working very hard at self-learning the violin – thanks to Youtube and several other websites.

Today, I’m thankful for the precious son I was given because without him, I would not be a momma.
