Another Year: Opportunities Are You Searching for Them?

Another year, another month, another day. Are you searching for opportunities to make them count? Each morning when we rise from our bed, we have opportunities abounding. Are we searching for them, or are we hiding under the covers not caring about what goes on around us? It matters how we face the day.

Another year, another month, another day. Are you searching for opportunities to make them count?

Another year, another month, another day. I shared on Facebook we all have a book with 366 pages, January 1, 2020, being the first. (You know it’s a Leap year, right?) Each day has its own personal page and what we write on it depends on us. We must make that page count.

Each morning when we rise from our bed, we have opportunities abounding. Will we be watching for opportunities to create something beautiful? Or will we hide under the covers not caring about what goes on around us? It matters how we face the day. If we are hiding under the covers not caring, then we need to adjust our attitude.

ANOTHER YEar - ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR OPPORTUNITIES?

I recently attended a family member’s funeral. While talking with family, we mentioned birthdays several times. One aunt talking with my son said, “Each time you have a birthday, I have a birthday. You grow older every year and so do I. Make each year count .” My husband’s cousin said, “It’s only a number, it means nothing ,” and we laughed while telling our ages. What great advice my son heard from people older than him that day.

I would never have dreamed we would make it to 2020, but here we are. While we are only a few days into the year, it is not too late to make the best of the rest of January. My mom reminded me on the 18th, my eldest brother turned 60. That caused me to think, I will hit the last leg of my 40's on my birthday. It is unbelievable; time is but a fleeting moment.

I didn’t set any goals for this year nor do I have a verse I’m focusing on. Although, there is a verse that keeps playing in my head. I’ll be sharing about it later on in the next few weeks. There is one thing I am doing this year, I will live life to the fullest.

The past few weeks, I have looked at the faces of many people. Some are dealing with physical ailments, financial issues, and marital problems. Then there are those fighting against emotional demons that plague their very being. Each of us has something working against us, but what matters the most is how we react to it.

Another year, another month, another day. Are you searching for opportunities to make them count?

Our attitude and actions matter - we can become bitter, allow ourselves to fall into a depression, become the unhappy person no one wants to be around. Or we can pick up ourselves and keep running the race of life. Our attitude must be in check.

Yes, there are hurdles we have to make it over. Some are taller than others, while some are close together, and there are those that seem to pop up out of nowhere.

No, there is not a perfect, smooth road in life. In fact, Jesus did not promise we would have one. But he is our Overcomer. (John 16:33)

The good thing about all those ups and downs we have one thing that stays constant. One thing is with us through every step in life. Jesus promised he would be with us and he would never leave us. (Hebrews 13:5)

So, if you are like me and want to focus on living life to the fullest, look for the opportunities your day holds. Make each day count!
