Peace:My Word and Verse for 2015
/
Choosing a word for this year has been hard for me. I had another word I had wanted to work on and even bought a book with the word in the title, but anytime I tried to write about it, it just would not come together. While I know that word is something I need to work on, there is another word I feel the Lord wants me to deal with in my life. MY WORD FOR 2015 is PEACE.
Did you know there are 400 verses in the Bible that have the word PEACE? While some deal with the PEACE offerings with the children of Israel, others deal with living a PEACEful life, someone holding their PEACE (tongue control), and others talk about the PEACE that only God can give.
I wrote about PEACE in the past. Every time I come across Hebrews 12:14, I can’t help but focus on the words without which no man shall see the Lord. When we are not PEACEful, the Lord is not being seen in us. As Christians, Christ is supposed to be seen in everything we do.
As a wife and mom, I am the pot stirrer in our home. I’m either going to forcefully stir the pot for more heat and out of control actions, or I’m going to easily stir the pot for a more peaceful outcome. I will go ahead and tell you because I want to be truthful; I like to forcefully stir the pot sometimes. I want to be Mrs. It and come out on top. This is NOTHING to be PROUD of!
We’ve all heard the saying, “If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”; while many will giggle or smile at this saying, I have come to the conclusion that this is just SAD! I want my husband and son happy. I want our home to be the peaceful, safe haven for my husband when he comes in from work. I want my son to look back on his childhood years and think fondly of the moments that were created. I want to be remembered as a PEACE living wife and mother. I don’t want to be the reason for Satan to enter our home and tear it apart.
Those who live in our homes know the REAL us. They see us every day during good moments and even our disturbing moments. Our husbands and children are the ones who are going to either rotate around us, or they are going to push away from us as far as they can. I want my husband and son to rotate around me.
Stirring the pot PEACEfully is not always easy. There are times when situations come up and anger flares or defeat, sadness, and even discouragement rises to the top. But with the Lord’s help, we can be more PEACEful.
The Lord blesses the PEACEmakers according to Matthew 5:9. I want to be a PEACEmaker; I want the Lord’s blessings on my life. I want others to see Christ in me.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
