A Bible Memory Challenge -Psalm 118
/This time of year many are making resolutions and others are making goals. In the past, I’ve shared my goals and while I succeeded in some, others I didn’t do too well. That quilt, it’s in a box in storage, just waiting for the day to be completed. It will eventually be completed. This year, I’m not making any goals but I have made a Bible memory challenge, and I want you to join in with me.
I love the book of Psalms. There are many little nuggets found in those 150 chapters. Anytime I read a chapter, my heart is blessed.
Bible Memory Challenge
Recently, I read through Psalms again. When I came to chapter 118, I took my time. I read each verse twice sometimes three times. I wanted to learn more about this psalm as it is believed to be the last one that Jesus and his disciples sang when they left the Passover on their way to the Garden of Gethsemane.
Every time I read the words “his mercy endureth for ever” it was like a hammer pounding on my heart. As I continued reading, I read “trust in the Lord”, “the Lord doeth valiantly”, “God is the Lord”, “Thou art my God”. Those words too became a hammer, pounding on my heart. I serve the same God as David did. What God did for David, He can do the same for me.
I knew when I read chapter 118, it was meant for me to memorize. Memorizing Psalm 118 is my Bible memory challenge for 2018. It will not be easy, I know. Satan works in ways to keep me from hiding God’s words in my heart. But, I know I can meet this challenge.
I divided the chapter into 4 or 5 verses for easy memorization. And I loaded them to Scripture Typer, so I could use their program to help with memorization. I’ve mentioned Scripture Typer before and it helps when memorizing Bible verses.
If you’d like to join a private group I started at Scripture Typer, you can do so by clicking HERE.
You’ll need an account which is free. If you use your phone, they have an app just for you. And if you’d rather use a different version of the Bible to memorize, you can set your account to change the verses automatically for you.
I also created postcard size verse cards so I would have the verses at my finger tips through out the day. I love verse cards. They can be placed in areas where you spend time during the day so you can read them.
You can get your verse cards here.
I hope you’ll join me in this challenge. It doesn’t cost you a thing, but just a little time every day hiding God’s words in your heart.
